Th Bakery Lady believes it is essential to give back to the community that supports us.  It is the mission of The Bakery Lady to provide exceptional baked goods at a good value, while giving back to those who make Seymour the best place to live.

Who We Are

The Bakery Lady was started in 2000 by Marjie Richardson in hopes of bringing yummy baked goods to Seymour and the surrounding area.  In 2010, as Marjie began to prepare for retirement Todd and Misti (Gossett) DeGroot began working towards their dream of owning a bakery.  Todd began working at The Bakery Lady learning the art of scratch baking.  He quickly became the Head Baker.  In 2011, Todd and Misti acheived their dream, and took over ownership of The Bakery Lady.  Todd is still baking the delicious breads and pastries everyone has come to love.

Todd is originally from Parlin, NJ.  While studying at the College of the Atlantic towards a degree in Marine Biology, Todd worked in the kitchen of the school where his love for scratch baking began.  He did go on to become a marine biologist and did so for the 13 years prior to coming to the bakery.  However, cooking and baking have always been his true passion.  So he made the decision to change careers, and began to do something else he loved.

Misti is a fifth generation Seymourian, and loves the place where she was raised.   Misti has been in banking in the local community since 1999.

Todd and Misti have two children, Emma and Benjamin.
